I en cheder lærer man grunnleggende hebraisk språk og jødisk religion. Om de avbildede har United States Holocaust Memorial Museum dette å fortelle;

Seated in the center is the teacher, Eliezer David Mordekhai Krapovnitski, who was known as Reb Adam. The Heder boys are (standing, right to left) Shlomo Pilushki, Moshe Dovid Katz, Shmuel Shlanski, Avraham Kabacznik, and Shlomo Dugaczanski; (seated) Sander Nochomowicz, Alexander Zisl Hinski, Yehiel Blacharowicz, and a boy known as Hishveh from the village of Golmecziszki.

Shmuel and Hishveh immigrated to America, Sander to Argentina, Zisl to Palestine. Of the others, Avraham died a natural death; the rest were murdered by the Germans during the September 1941 killing action in Eisiskes.

Rozhinkes mit Mandlen av Abraham Goldfaden (1840-1908), sunget av Netania Davrath.
